Kateryna Ch 4.9 (1037) Graphics & Design Posted October 10 1 Hi, I'm Kateryna Cherniavska. Here are my recommendations as a professional artist with a degree in fine arts, 30 years of experience, and 10 years specializing in book illustration: Style is essentially the unique, personal method an artist or designer uses to apply stylization. Stylization is the process of simplifying, identifying, and emphasizing the most important elements, while eliminating unnecessary or distracting details that could interfere with the impression you want to make on the reader or viewer. A good illustrator always knows and feels what needs to be emphasized, what can be more subtle but still highlight the main focus. They know which details will not only beautify but also enhance the informational value and add to the overall impression. They understand what should be minimized with a delicate line, and what should be removed entirely. I wish you to find exactly these kinds of professional artists—those who have education, an understanding of what style is, experience, talent, and their own unique touch, their own style and method of applying stylization. This is extremely important! You don’t need a super-detailed 3D illustration from AI. Such images are often overly detailed and, because of that, they don’t even come close to the real impression a person experiences. A person doesn’t see everything in detail at once. When you’re having tea with someone, you notice the steam rising from the cup, then you close your eyes and feel only the warmth of the cup, the smell of the tea, and the voice of your companion. When you open your eyes, you might focus on the beautiful color of your companion’s eyes (or perhaps just one eye). You might notice their face’s asymmetry or simply feel their positive mood and the beauty of the person in front of you, while the background behind them remains a blurry haze. You remember you’re in a café, which is clear from the background noise or the blurred setting behind your companion, but that’s not the most important thing. This is how illustration and working with an artist are as well. The artist knows what you need to highlight, what is important to show in the illustration right now, and what will capture the attention of the viewer. Most often, what you need is stylization from a 2D artist—it is far more effective at touching the reader’s heart. Only a human can truly understand how to captivate the reader. A person needs another person. If your reader is human, then you need a human artist. Just like the one answering this question. Best regards, first and foremost a human-illustrator, Kateryna Cherniavska See profile Link to comment https://answers.fiverr.com/qa/10_graphics-design/33_book-design/how-can-illustrative-design-styles-enhance-a-books-visual-appeal-r150/#findComment-1844 Share on other sites
Noemi D. 5.0 (263) Graphics & Design Posted August 28 0 The illustrative style caresses the most remote chords of our soul, drawing in general, reconnects us, compared to photography, to a part of our life generally linked to freedom, to fantasy, that of youth. But illustration lends itself to any narrative genre, it allows us to give a personal touch, of the illustrator himself, that sometimes the photographic style cannot. It also has a greater chance of connecting the client's idea, which uses the skills intercepted in the illustrator, to give life to what he has in mind.
