It is your life journey, and the counselor is there to provide resources, be supportive and help you map out the future. As a senior manager for years and then the owner of my own business I often come across people who ask for professional counseling about next steps in life. I believe in using the old method of writing down your vision for your life. Write it all out. Take a morning walk, grab a cup of coffee and a pad and pen. Write down your biggest dreams however outlandish they may be and then begin to write out steps to reach those goals and a time frame. This puts things in perspective.
