Swastik 5.0 (317) Programming & Tech Posted November 13 0 One must read book I would recommend is "Bhagavad Gita As it Is". It's a timeless conversation between Sri Krishna and Arjuna when Arjuna was bewildered at the most crucial time of his life. The most important thing to become successful in life is to maintain emotional balance while taking decisions. If you are not emotionally well and mentally balanced, then you will take decision based on variegated emotions which will lead to failure and eventually regret of past. After reading this awesome book, you will get the peace formula that how to balance different things in the adversities of life. How to be mentally peaceful and become goal oriented. I can guarantee that you will become extraordinary in whichever field you are. See, if you are happy and peaceful from inside, then it automatically reflects outside in all the aspects of life and this book will help you in exactly that. After I read it, I can say that it is a must read "Manual of Life". One key point to remember is that read the "Bhagavad Gita As it Is" which is translated by "A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada". There are many other translators but they have missed the original essence of the book. Swami Prabhupada has kept the philosophy as it was given. That why it is called "As It Is". Thank me later after reading See profile Link to comment https://answers.fiverr.com/qa/11_lifestyle/152_life-coaching/what-are-your-must-read-books-for-personal-growth-r1578/#findComment-3179 Share on other sites
Alegra H 5.0 (487) Writing & Translation Posted November 9 0 A MUST read is S. Truett Cathy's How Did You Do It, Truett?: A Recipe for Success. A great book on integrity in business. He tells the story of his humble beginnings and hard choices. My favorite chapter talks about how he had a cigarette machine in his diner and he was making tons of money from it but one day God spoke to him to get rid of it. He wrestled with the decision because it was so profitable but in the end he listened, removed the machine and the rest is history. Another one is by celebrated lawyer Laurie R Haden: It's Time To Shine: A Guide For Professionals of Color on How to Advance Their Career. It's the incredible book on how networking helped her rise to fame. Carla 5.0 (104) Personal Growth & Hobbies Posted November 1 0 When asked about must-read books for personal growth, I recommend one book, two poems, and a quote. My first thought is Dostoevsky’s "The Brothers Karamazov". While it’s a commitment at nearly 1,000 pages, this novel offers an unparalleled exploration of human complexity, capturing how people embody both admirable and flawed qualities and reminds us that everyone is on their own journey. Dostoevsky challenges us to move beyond the tendency to categorize others as simply good or evil, reminding us that true understanding requires seeing people as layered individuals with unique struggles and strengths. The biggest hurdle to personal growth isn’t growth itself but the distractions that pull us away from it. Chief among these is our tendency to compare ourselves to others. Step one, therefore, is to disassociate from this impulse, choosing instead to focus on self-improvement without the burden of external judgment. As Max Ehrmann’s "Desiderata" reminds us, “If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.” This timeless poem is a beautiful call to lead a life grounded in calm strength and compassion. For another impactful perspective, Carl Sagan’s "Pale Blue Dot" encourages us to see ourselves in the vast context of the cosmos, nurturing a sense of humility and shared connection. Reflecting on humanity's small place in the universe fosters a sense of unity that transcends surface-level judgments. Finally, I’m guided by the simple wisdom: “Be so busy improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.” Personal growth happens naturally if we remove the barriers to it.
