Paul T 4.9 (441) Music & Audio Posted November 13 0 First, I gather as much specific information as possible, including links to what they would like their music to sound like. The better I understand what they want, the less I have to revise. I usually build into my offer enough time for my client to preview the music before final delivery. If I have 10 days to finish the music, I will post a preview copy for them to review and collaborate. I then use their feedback to produce the finished product. Beatscribe 5.0 (1277) Game soundtrack composer Music editor Orchestral composer Posted October 28 0 I work like the IT world does with SCRUM/Sprints. Sprint 1: Make a short 30 second demo for theme to hear. Sprint 2: Once client approves, do entire composition (maybe its 2 minutes long or a loop, just depends) Sprint 3: Client shown demo quality version of entire composition Sprint 4: Any feedback is integrated into demo version. Sprint 5: Full mix and mastering completed. Sprint 6: Repeat 3-5 until client is happy. Sprint 7: Final master and file outputs created. Joe R 5.0 (827) Jingle composer Lead singer Songwriter Posted October 28 0 I usually start requesting feedback on the song from the very first stages of development, that way my clients can hear where I'm going with it from the start and share their thoughts at a point where it'll be easy to make adjustments or even start from scratch. That way I make sure that I'm getting the buyer something they'll actually like from the beginning instead of working on a full song that they might not even like the style of. Nick Kold 5.0 (229) Film score composer Sound designer Posted August 27 0 I see feedback as an opportunity to enhance the project while staying true to the original concept. Balancing client expectations with creative direction is a fine line, but it’s something you learn to navigate over time. Trusting your vision usually leads to the best results, but it’s important to stay open to feedback and understand the client’s vision before starting the work.
