Music production mentorship vs. self-learning - which has been more beneficial for you?

Self-learning has been the most beneficial for me. It all started back in 2000 with a Pentium 2 and ReBirth RB-338 drum machine. Over time, I transitioned to FL Studio and eventually moved to Studio One. Back in my day, there was no YouTube or easy access to tutorials—I had to figure everything out on my own. This process taught me patience, problem-solving, and truly understanding the tools I was working with. While mentorship has its advantages, the independence and deeper connection to the craft that came from self-learning have been invaluable to me.
