I remember a particularly memorable project where I got to bring Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy to life for a British film production. The challenge was to speak English with a strong German dialect, which in itself was an interesting linguistic exercise. However, the most demanding part was the emotional depth required for the role—I had to cry and whine quite a bit.

Getting into the character's mindset and delivering those lines with the right mix of emotion and authenticity was both tricky and incredibly rewarding. It felt like I was not just lending my voice but truly embodying the character. The process was a blend of technical precision and emotional expression, making it one of the standout experiences in my career.

A few years ago I was cast to voice the head of a Vampire tribe in an audio book. The guy had to sound old, not too nice and also required a German accent.

Not the best paid job, but it's so much fun to play an evil character. muahahaha

My favourite I've done so far is for the video game Rivers of Astrum. The creator, Ron, was kind enough to allow me to voice the whole team of lead female characters. They have a lot of dialogue side by side, but what really helped was finding their unique tones and differentiating them by accents - American, South African/British, and Irish. Sandra is by far the favourite character I've voiced. She is an Irish pirate captain with a really dark past, but her scripts include a lot of humor as she shrugs her trauma off. Her lines have a lot of subtext, which has been awesome to bring to life!

This isn't so much a character as a really memorable project.  A wonderful client I had here on Fiverr would often send me larger scripts for guided audio tours. They were really interesting and I learned some very cool cultural stuff about the locations I was narrating for. The reason I mention this is... The most memorable project I have ever worked on was an audio tour guide for the Demillitarized Zone between South and North Korea. Did you know it was a tourist hot spot? I didn't! And now my voice guides English speaking tourists through this site! It's definitely the most memorable project I've ever worked on!

I remember being asked to do a voice for an anime character who looked like a garbage disposal demon (best description for how this thing looked!) Not my normal style, but I dug in deep and waited til I had the house to myself and went as guttural and crazy sounding with my voice as I could. What did it for me was knowing I was alone and had complete freedom to get in the zone and explore different sounds. The client loved it and I enjoyed the process - I expanded my range that day!

I've had the privilege of dubbing many characters, but the most memorable one was for a character in an animated movie called "Welcome to the Day of the Dead." My character was called "Poncho the Great."

I had to make the most of my dubbing technique because the tones were high-pitched and full of inflections. It was a lot of fun to do, and the film was broadcast in several countries in Latin America.

I've had the honor of performing a few character voices, but here are some of my most memorable. 🙂

I recorded a few lines of dialogue as Sam Adams for a documentary. I'm from Boston, so this one was a particular honor!

I've also been the voice of Edgar Allen Poe for a Halloween podcast...

A battlefield commander for a video game trailer...

But I think the most memorable project I've recorded was as the voice of a colon for an animated explainer video about colon health and the importance of getting a colonoscopy. Wacky and "out there" jobs are always the most fun.

A few years ago I was hired to produce multiple productions for a Bible app for children that included the greatest stories ever told!

The client initially just wanted a narrative, storyteller voice to enhance the app but after some discussions I was able to provide multiple character voices, sound effects, music - a full and dynamic master audio track that brought fifteen stories to life in an entertaining and educational way for kids all over the world.

I was provided amazing illustrations and based each character voice (God, Goliath, Samson, Moses, Noah, Jonah and some of the evil villains - to include some female characters as well).

As a Christian father/grandfather, I loved telling these stories and having so much fun developing these characters from a picture and a wonderful script!
