When recording voiceovers, do you find Adobe Audition or Audacity more effective?

This is a really good question. I started with Audacity because it was FREE! That's a great place to start when you're trying out Voice Over because you don't want to spend a ton of money when you're brand new to something.

Like some of the other answers on here, I switched to Audition because it does more of the things that I want to be able to do in a cleaner way. It's also something that a lot of professionals use (and some job offers ask which software you use). So it can sound a little more "professional" to say that you use Audition. However, I bet you would have a really hard time getting someone to tell you the difference between one file edited in Audacity compared to Audition.

My advice would be to use whichever one gets you started sooner! Just get started!

I started with Audacity years ago and I've never switched. I think it really depends on what features you need. If you're a just starting out in voice over, give Audacity a try as it's free.  If you decide to stick with a VO career you can always upgrade to Adobe.

Adobe Audition has more useful features at your disposal. If you do projects where a music bed is needed, Audition is more flexible and easier to use. It's got a lot of bells and whistles. The downside, there's a monthly charge to use it, you cannot buy it outright, where Audacity is free....  The charge is not large and it's worth it (for me anyway).

Both are very good.....
