Matt B 4.9 (338) Music & Audio Posted August 27 0 Above all - the space. A controlled, consistent, dedicated recording space that blocks out exterior sounds, controls reverberations within, and is comfortable to record in for long spells. I've a professional vocal booth, but you'll be surprised what you can do in a full closet in a pinch! A condenser microphone and audio interface. USB mics just can't cut it. The quality will never be able to compete with a good condenser microphone and audio interface. You'll have a clean, consistent and high quality sound. I use a Sennheiser MKH416 and an Audient ID14 A good DAW. If your recordings or good, you can get away with GarageBand or audacity for free, but I swear by adobe audition for more advanced work to properly mix and master to publication standard. You just need to be able to do some minor EQ, compression and to edit the audio.
