Enzo 5.0 (316) Mixing engineer Posted November 17 0 I highly recommend being connected in communities of producers to grow together. I also highly recommend a self-education with videos on youtube channels of important mix engineers or also go to workshops of music producers who have great results in the music industry. The important thing is to always be learning. laserlife 5.0 (18047) Mastering engineer Posted November 13 0 Music is not only something I do for a living. It’s something that I’m completely obsessed with so even when I don’t have any projects going, I spent most of my free time, educating myself, visiting colleagues in other studios, listening to music and trying new ideas and experiments. It’s all about staying curious! mattbrettprod 5.0 (434) Ghost producer Posted November 13 0 I have always been a believe in that finding a single reliable source of information, which is connected to, and informed by many other sources of information, is better than looking for many individual sources of information yourself. For example: Andrew Huang on Youtube. He is knee deep in all the latest and greatest gear, productions techniques and everything going on with music that is pushing boudaries. Following his content, keeps me well informed with EVERYTHING going on within the world of production. With regards to continuing to push my own skills, I have found that trying to incorporate new ideas into EVERY project I do helps. Regardless of the genre, I always like to try new things, do things I have never done before, think outside the box, and even surprise my buyers with something they maybe were not expecting! Nikola D 5.0 (2367) Ghost producer Posted October 30 0 If i dont know some new latest technique from music production, im trying to analyse that from the song. Easiest way. Put the song you heard that you did't knew how to do it , and start analysing, if there is a stutter lead, or something like that , there are plenty of plugins that can help you, it's all about automations , 70% of the tracks are automations. Now what automations are, they are controlling effect that you want to increase, decrease, put more modulation, or anything like that, basically most of the tracks depends on the not only melodics, but in automations as well, so im going with that ,and everytime i tried something new, it was all in the "playing around" with the automations. Also i trained myself while listening to some song, to be focused only on the part that i wanna hear, if there are basslines and leads, i can only focuse on the lead, and try to improve. With drums as well, if there are percussions, toms, cymbals or anything like that, im focusing myself only on that parts that i never heard before, and trying to recreate and improve it more. Ricardo Funk 5.0 (465) Music & Audio Posted October 21 0 For me watching tutorials is crucial. If I don't know how to produce a genre I will go and watch tons of tutorials. Another way that I find great is by downloading demo versions o free versions of any plugin that I'm interested so I can mess around and play a bit with this. Listening to new music and trying to recreate stuff is also a good method to keep your learning curve in crescendo. Sometimes we just feel we don't have time to learn or listen to new music but that's a great way of staying tuned to different or new techniques out there.
