I always start from scratch when I'm entering into a new project. It helps me keep things fresh and not fall into old routines. It also helps me make every project feel more personal and unique because the approach always differs.

Sometimes, I set creative challenges for myself. For example, if a new project requires a specific instrument or sound, I’ll buy a new instrument or plugin specifically for that task and push myself to learn it during the process. This approach keeps things fresh, exciting, and continuously evolving.

I used to always use templates, thinking they'd be helpful to get things going quickly, which they do, but they also force you into the same routines and that's probably the worst thing for your creativity.

So now I start with a blank project every time, no templates, no presets, then if I watch a video from another producer showing a technique I've never tried, or hear a new song that does something I want to adapt into my own, I start from that point with a clean slate and see where it takes me!
