laserlife 5.0 (18050) Mastering engineer Posted November 13 0 I love to use saturation plug-ins like Decapitator from Soundtoys, but it’s even more fun to use hardware gear. I love to use some old compressors, just runjing things through them even if I’m not compressing to get that analog saturation from their transformers. There are many cool experimental ideas with boom bar as well. One time, the artist wanted a very old-school sound, so I took an audio interface, a laptop and a speaker to a venue after hours when it was closed and ran the drums in the empty room so I can record it and blend it with the original to give it a really cool boomy club sound! Alfredo Reed 5.0 (695) Beat maker Mixing & mastering engineer Posted October 28 0 Softube Tape or Waves J37 They are plugins that give you that saturation and vintage color that your beats need. I really use them when I need that warmth in the boom bap of traditional hip hop.
