Ave B. 5.0 (409) Music & Audio Posted October 29 0 I find Zoom to be an effective platform for online music lessons, allowing for real-time interaction and collaboration. I also utilize different ear training apps to provide immediate feedback and reinforce listening skills, enhancing students’ pitch and rhythm recognition. Additionally, I incorporate the Kodály approach, using techniques like singing solfege to engage students and reinforce musical concepts. By integrating these tools and methods, I create an interactive learning environment that keeps students motivated and supports their musical development. Joseph S 5.0 (30) Music & Audio Posted September 29 1 If you ask any music teacher or live performance coach to name the most significant drawback with virtual music lessons as opposed to in-person lessons, I can confidently say that an overwhelming majority of us would, without missing a beat, give the same response: latency. What could easily be played on the piano while my students sing along in person must be digitized and distributed in virtual lessons. I feel so bad for all the students out there who don't even realize they are missing such a crucial element of their training as a musician, which is the intangible communication between themselves and the live piano accompaniment supporting the pieces they perform in lessons. Instead, they learn how to interpret music based on a recording that, no matter how beautifully is played, cannot respond to the ebbs and flows of the singer's interpretation in the moment like a live pianist can. And then came Mooz (https://mooz.pro). This platform was built specifically for musicians offering virtual lessons, which is why their sound quality is unparalleled, but the biggest revolution is Mooz’s revolutionary Synchronous Sound feature that eliminates any audio or visual delays common on other platforms, allowing me and my students to perform in perfect sync. It's like my students are right there next to me in person instead of on the other side of the planet. Honestly, it makes me groan when I have to meet with someone on another platform because no other service offers this level of precision and clarity. If that isn't enough, Mooz also allows for incredible flexibility in teaching setups. I can connect my MIDI keyboard for enhanced interactive lessons and use up to five different cameras simultaneously. As a singer, this is especially useful since my students need to see how my posture affects my vocal production. For certain students or demonstrations, my setup includes a full-body camera, along with a closeup side view of my face, a chest-up shot, a top-down view of my hands when I accompany on the piano, and a .pdf of the sheet music visible at all times. And for the teachers that prefer to teach using instrumental tracks, Mooz allows teachers to control the tracks while the students sing in perfect synchronization with it, instead of having the students play stage manager for their own lessons. To be clear, I am in no way affiliated with Mooz beyond being a very happy customer. I sing their praises because their tools epitomize real-time feedback in an interactive learning experience like no other videoconferencing platform available today.
