Can you describe a particularly challenging sound design project and how you overcame the obstacles?

One particularly challenging sound design project involved creating a soundscape that shifted between dreamy and nightmarish elements based on the focus of the scenes. The client wanted these shifts to be impactful, so I used the sound of running pipes as the foundation for the nightmarish elements. I processed and pitched them down to create a feeling of loneliness and discomfort. This sound became a central theme throughout the film and played a key role in signaling impending tension. The main challenge was integrating this sound seamlessly with the rest of the score and ensuring it remained effective without overwhelming the dreamy elements. By building everything around this core sound, I was able to define the film’s atmosphere and achieve a more ambiance-focused sound design than originally planned.
