I think it is a beautiful combination that we can manage at the same time when we really consider that what we are doing is in accordance with the intentions of the production since it is good to be creative but not to get away from the emotions that we want to generate in that project. One of the things that can help you balance it is the experience and good communication with the client since also before creativity and objectivity there is the feeling of doing something with magnificent results.

Balancing creativity with technical precision in sound design involves:

Master the Basics: Understand fundamental techniques like EQ, compression, and synthesis to control sound with precision.

Define Your Vision: Set clear creative goals to guide your technical decisions and keep your project focused.

Iterate: Alternate between experimenting with creative ideas and refining them technically.

Experiment within Limits: Use specific constraints to spark creativity while managing technical aspects.

Use Tools Creatively: Apply technical tools to enhance your creative vision rather than limit it.

Collaborate and Get Feedback: Seek others' perspectives to balance technical and creative elements.

Stay Organized: Keep your projects well-organized to support both creative and technical aspects effectively.

These strategies help ensure your sound design is both innovative and precise.

For me, it’s about knowing when to focus on the details to get everything sounding clear and balanced, and when to step back and let the natural creativity stay as it is or shine through. The goal is to improve the sound without losing the original energy or feel, making sure the final product is both polished and true to the original idea.
