While I could give an ordered list with a short description of each WordPress SEO plugin, I'm not sure I would recommend any, other than Rank Math SEO and Yoast.

Yoast is clearly the most popular WordPress SEO plugin and for good reason. I encounter many new customers that have installed it as their SEO plugin. Unfortunately, I also find that many are not using the plugin. There are multiple reasons for that, but I think it really comes down to ease of use.

That is where Rank Math shines. Rank Math is my preferred WordPress SEO plugin for how easy it is to use and how much you get in the free version. Really, while I use the Pro version myself and for multiple clients, most sites will do just fine with the free version that provides:

  • Automated sitemap generation
  • Post, page, and products SEO tool and recommendations
  • 404 Monitor
  • Redirection feature
  • Integration of Google Search Console and Google Analytics

I highly encourage my customers to install and use WordPress SEO plugins. I have seen quick results with site discovery and indexing which I attribute to the SEO plugins. The companies that create these tools have a vested interest to keep up on the changes in the SEO landscape and using their plugins helps you take advantage of that.

Best of luck with your SEO!
