I like using video upscaling software such as Topaz Video Enhance AI or Adobe Premiere Pro for converting 1080p screen recordings to 4K.

These tools use advanced algorithms to enhance resolution while minimizing quality loss. I prefer adjusting sharpness, adding subtle noise reduction, and tweaking color grading during the process to ensure the upscaled video looks natural and polished.

While the result won’t be true 4K, this approach significantly improves the visual quality for larger screens.

While you can't truly convert a 1080p video into a genuine 4K video, you can upscale it to appear like 4K using video upscaling techniques. Here are a couple of methods:

1. Video2X:

This is a free, open-source tool that uses AI to upscale videos. It's relatively easy to use and can produce decent results.

2. VideoProc Converter AI:

This tool offers a more comprehensive solution with AI-powered upscaling. It can upscale videos to 4K and even offers other video editing features.

Important Note:

Upscaling can improve the perceived resolution, but it won't add actual detail.

The quality of the upscaled video will depend on the original source material and the upscaling algorithm used.

For the best results, start with a high-quality 1080p recording.

Additional Tips:

If you're planning to upscale a lot of videos, consider using a more powerful computer with a good graphics card.

Experiment with different settings to find the best results for your specific video.

Be patient, as upscaling can take some time, especially for longer videos.

Remember, while upscaling can enhance the appearance of your 1080p video, it's not a magic solution. For truly high-resolution content, you'll need to record in 4K from the start.

Many ways to do it but as a general rule of thumb - you DON'T want to do this!
Trying to convert 1080p footage to 4k is like trying to use a small blanket to cover a bed that is twice the size.

You can stretch it, you can expand it, but it will never fit perfectly and it might even rip. You definitely don't want to do that.

I would rather resort to re-recording the desired footage in 4k and just work from there.
