Both Premiere Pro(Paid) and Capcut(Free) provide AI Generated subtitles. But I prefer Capcut for this because its Free and Its have lost of pre-build Templates for subtitles. Both also allow user to import their own .srt file

The easiest way to add subtitles to a video depends on your tools and preferences. Here are some accessible options:

1. Using Online Subtitle Generators

  • Tools like Kapwing, VEED.io, or Rev can auto-generate subtitles from your video.
  • Upload your video, edit the subtitles for accuracy, and export it with embedded captions.

2. Built-In Tools in Editing Software

  • Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve have captioning features.
  • Import your video, use the auto-transcribe option (if available), adjust timing, and export.

3. YouTube’s Auto-Subtitle Feature

  • Upload your video to YouTube, let it auto-generate subtitles, and download the .srt file for use elsewhere.
  • You can edit the timing and text in YouTube Studio.

Adding subtitles to a video has become much easier with modern tools. Here are the easiest ways to add subtitles, depending on your needs and preferences:

Use YouTube’s Automatic Captioning (Free Option)

YouTube generates captions automatically for uploaded videos, which can be downloaded and edited.

Steps:

Upload your video to YouTube.

Go to the "Subtitles" section in YouTube Studio.

Edit the auto-generated subtitles to correct errors.

Export the subtitles as an SRT file or leave them embedded in the video.

Opus Clip is an excellent tool for repurposing horizontal videos into vertical formats, particularly optimized for social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. While its primary focus is on transforming videos for vertical layouts, adding subtitles is also a feature it handles effectively.

What is Opus Clip?

Opus Clip is an AI-driven tool designed to:

Convert long-form videos into short-form, vertical clips.

Highlight key moments in your video based on AI analysis.

Automatically add subtitles to enhance engagement and accessibility.

How to Use Opus Clip for Vertical Videos:

Upload Your Video:

Import a horizontal or full-length video.

Select Vertical Format:

Choose the 9:16 aspect ratio for social media.

Generate Clips:

Let Opus Clip analyze the content and create vertical snippets automatically.

Customize Subtitles:

Review and edit auto-generated subtitles for accuracy.

Customize font size, style, and color to fit your brand.

Export Your Video:

Save the vertical clips with embedded subtitles, ready to upload to your preferred platforms.

1. DaVinci Resolve (Free Version)

    •    How to Add Subtitles:
    1.    Open your video project in DaVinci Resolve.
    2.    Go to the Edit page and, from the top menu, select Effects Library > Titles > Subtitle to add a subtitle track.
    3.    Click on the subtitle track in the timeline and add text directly in the Inspector panel.
    4.    Customize font, color, and positioning as desired.
    •    Pros: Professional-grade editing with extensive customization, perfect for long-form and polished videos.
    •    Cons: Steeper learning curve if you’re new to video editing.

2. CapCut (Desktop or Mobile Version)

    •    How to Add Subtitles:
    1.    Open your video in CapCut on your laptop.
    2.    Go to the Text tab, where you’ll find an option for Auto Captions to automatically generate subtitles based on your audio.
    3.    CapCut lets you edit the text and adjust style, color, and animations for subtitles easily.
    •    Pros: Simple and user-friendly, ideal for quick and effective social media content creation.
    •    Cons: Fewer advanced features compared to DaVinci, but great for straightforward subtitle work.

Both options are free, accessible, and each has strengths that cater to different project needs.

The easiest way to add subtitles to a video depends on the level of control and customization you need.

Offline Tools:

If you're looking for a professional tool with great customization options, I recommend using Adobe Premiere Pro's auto-generated captions feature. It's quite accurate and allows you to generate subtitles easily. Once the captions are created, you have plenty of options for customisation to match your video's style. You can adjust the font, colour, and positioning, making it a versatile choice for any project.

Online Tools:

VEED.IO: Offers automatic captioning with high accuracy, along with the option to upload existing subtitles (SRT files) or type them yourself. You can even customize how the subtitles look!

YouTube: Uploading your video to YouTube allows you to use their automatic captioning feature. It might not be perfect, but it's a fast way to get basic subtitles. You can edit these manually as well.

Adobe Express: It's a free online tool that lets you upload your video and generate automatic captions. You can then edit and customize them before downloading the subtitled video.
