Emily Lisa T. 4.9 (1094) Book editor Literary editor Posted December 4 0 I provide feedback on spelling, grammar, punctuation and ensure all sentences flow smoothly. I also research topics if needed to ensure my feedback is relevant. My focus then extends to clarity, structure, character development, pacing, and other key elements. These are just a few of the aspects I address when working with a less familiar genre. Bancy 5.0 (227) Writing & Translation Posted November 27 0 When giving feedback on a genre I'm less familiar with, my approach is to focus on the core elements of storytelling that transcend genre conventions, such as character development, pacing, emotional engagement, and plot structure. I rely on my understanding of universal storytelling principles to assess how well the author’s narrative holds together, whether the characters are compelling, and if the pacing and structure feel engaging. While I may not be an expert in the genre’s specific tropes or technicalities, I can still offer valuable insights into how accessible and effective the story is for a broader audience. If something doesn’t resonate or feels unclear to me, I can point it out from the perspective of a general reader, which can help the author refine their work for both genre enthusiasts and new readers. Additionally, I’ll do some research if needed, to understand key elements of the genre and give more informed feedback on aspects like world-building or genre-specific expectations.
