Check the advert or brief you have for the company you're applying to. Also, check the company website. You will notice certain phrases or an emphasis the company has. Take this emphasis or phrasing and see what experiences show that you are the same. Then, using their phrasing, describe the experiences relating them to the company's own words.

The idea is to use your cover letter to summarize:

  1. Who you are,
  2. Why you’re interested, and
  3. What makes you a perfect fit (specifically).

That’s it! You don’t need to get into any personal histories/case studies, or to regurgitate your entire resume.
