Melissa M 5.0 (429) Author Book editor Proofreader Posted October 22 0 Fiction requires plotting, character development, world-building, and more. Nonfiction requires outlining, target market research, and content research. For fiction, you start with your big idea or that character that won’t stop living rent-free in your head. Then, you build a plot. Throw in a bit of excitement for good measure and let your creativity take the wheel. I always plot my stories along a Fichtean curve and create thorough character breakdowns. For non-fiction, I find that your research will make a world of difference. Your writing needs to be smooth (and helpful), but it also needs to be factual. So, double-checking facts and references is a must.
