I get sent far too many scripts or documents that have clearly been written by AI, and you can spot it a mile away. They're overwritten, full of poorly connected scenes, with dialogue that is full of cliches. I do use AI as a research tool, and occasionally for proof-reading, but I always back up that research with multiple sources. It's a tool like any other, but I wouldn't let it anywhere near my writing. Real, authentic, truthful creative writing is filtered through a person's life, experiences, and heart. AI can't replicate that.

Unfortunately, at the moment, tools to create AI articles, blog posts and other documents suffer from their use of densely worded language and often repetitive use of wording. For instance, I edited a thesis that actually used the words "In conclusion" 12 times over five pages. One of my clients asked me to edit an AI-written essay so that it was as if a human had written it. I actually spent five days trying to reduce the amount of AI in it. Eventually, I rewrote the whole essay and yet CopyLeaks still showed it as 6% AI!

AI Tools can be use for having ideas about specific topics, checking grammar, following a specific writing style but the real touch can be done and given by human mind, which can attract and engage readers. Without engagement the written content cannot provide any value to its readers.

AI tools can be used for basic corrections to grammar, spelling, and punctuation (but even then they don't have the understanding to discern certain grammatical/spelling issues e.g., vocabulary that is correct for dialects or figure out complex constructions e.g., elided verbs). However, having seen hundreds of AI documents on various topics, AI cannot 'enhance' writing because writing isn't optimizable and the current software does not have the capability to adapt its approach to different content, styles, and tones. That means that AI edits every kind of text the same way with the same phrasing, vocabulary, and sentence structure, leading to generic, repetitive writing.

They can be used by knowing how to ask effectively. The more specific, the better. AI takes its information from things that are already out there on the internet, so you want to be very detailed to get better results. After doing that, checking thoroughly is very important, as sometimes things can slip through the cracks, even using the best AI models out there.

I find that for creative writing, AI can be used to spark initial ideas when inspiration is lacking, as well as to get out of writing blocks sometimes, but the bulk of creativity and good writing still comes from the writers themselves. AI is another tool in our arsenal.

AI tools can help with things like grammar and style, but they can’t replace the personal touch and creativity that only a human writer can bring. AI can handle the basics and offer suggestions, but the real heart and soul of writing come from the writer themselves.
