Naturally integrate keywords: Instead of stuffing keywords, I find ways to weave them organically into the content—like using them in headings, introductions, and naturally within paragraphs. It keeps the flow smooth without feeling forced.

Optimize metadata and structure: I ensure that titles, meta descriptions, and headers are optimized for search engines without compromising clarity or appeal to readers. These elements are important for SEO but should still spark curiosity or provide value.

Use internal linking thoughtfully: Linking to relevant articles within the content boosts SEO and keeps readers engaged longer. I make sure the links feel helpful and contextually relevant, not just thrown in for ranking purposes.

Prioritize readability: I break content into short paragraphs, use bullet points, and add engaging headers to make it easy to read. SEO isn’t just about keywords—Google values content that’s user-friendly and keeps people on the page.

Balance SEO and storytelling: While SEO guidelines are important, storytelling makes the content compelling. I focus on creating value and a narrative that aligns with the client’s voice, keeping readers hooked while still ticking SEO boxes.

It's a great question, and there are multiple-layers here. But let's keep it simple. 

I think the number one way to accomplish this is to keep user experience (UX) as your top content priority. This means don't write for SEO, write for people first and search engines second.

With that guiding principle in place, here are a few other tactics to deploy:

  • Integrate primary and secondary keywords naturally within your content. Don't disrupt the flow of the UX by stuffing a bunch of keywords in the content. Sometimes using related provides better results.
  • Create compelling headlines and meta descriptions. If they don't get past your headline your article is toast. So include your target keywords here that will attract readers.
  • A lot of content is buried on websites and blogs. It's wise to use internal linking. This will help guide your readers to the most relevant content. It can also improve their time spent on your site which is good for SEO.
  • Optimize visuals by including keywords in alt text and file names. This is often overlooked. Make it a habit going forward and even revisit previous media to boost readability and engagement.
  • Think mobile first. The majority of people today use their phone as their primary device. They sleep with the thing, take it to the bathroom with them,  and your content needs to be available. This is the point of mobile optimization. As a brand or creator make sure your content is responsive and loads quickly on all devices. Do it without sacrificing readability.
