Laura B. 4.8 (101) Writing & Translation Posted Monday at 08:02 AM 0 Marketability! The summary or objectives simply markets you with summary of your experience, skills, expertise, drive, achievements, and visions. A well-written summary will do over 60% of the job while leaving the rest of the sections to confirm all the hypes. Th summary section is the most impactful and should always stay top of the resume while relevant keywords are strategically integrated along the lines. Tara Resume 4.9 (54) Writing & Translation Posted November 27 0 Basically, the length of your summary does matter. It should not be boring or so long, it should not be more than 4 sentences, and it should be able to tell the recruiter a brief overview of your whole resume. Don Pippin 5.0 (166) Writing & Translation Posted September 7 0 Objective statements are outdated. We should no longer be writing "I am an XYZ seeking a role with XYZ. Instead, have a strong value proposition. I prefer a paragraph style of no more than 5 lines that describes who the individual is at a high level with a few impactful achievements sprinkled throughout. Alternatively, you can use bullets to highlight this. Providing a quick overview of your key qualifications 2. Capturing the reader's attention immediately 3. Tailoring your profile to the specific job To write an impactful statement: 1. Keep it concise (2-5 sentences - depending on your field) 2. Focus on your most relevant skills and experiences 3. Use strong action verbs 4. Include measurable achievements if possible 5. Align it with the job description 6. Avoid generic phrases; be specific to your career goals 7. Update it for each application A well-crafted summary is a powerful introduction, enticing hiring managers to read further and positioning you as an ideal candidate for the role. Emily P 4.9 (87) Writing & Translation Posted August 27 0 An intro blurb is a great exercise to hone and refine your elevator pitch, which will help you make a strong first impression with that deceptively casual but fully loaded interview opener, “sooo, tell me a little bit about yourself…” Your introduction should be thoughtful and personal, articulating who you are, what you excel at and what you’re looking for (always tailored to the specific role you’re applying to, to demonstrate perfect fit) at a high-level (whereas your experience section will have more detail and examples). Keep it short and sweet (3-5 lines max). Avoid overused, generic buzzwords. Spend time honing something that feels true to you, summing up your career to-date while directly relating to the role/company you’re applying for.
