What techniques can help improve collaboration between product, engineering, and design teams?

Having seen so many product development exercises work ineffectively, I believe effective communication is at the core of effective collaboration between product, engineering and design teams. 

My top tips:

• draw up a communication plan to determine how you are going to communicate i.e. what frequency, what medium, agenda
• agree terms of reference 
• agree roles and responsibilities for each party 
• conduct team building activities at the start of the project
• sit in the same physical workspace if possible 
• when working virtually / remotely, have an open group chat 
• share credit across teams 
• have regular town halls to share updates / focus areas / show case prototypes
