Okay so this a good one, and since I have not used Keynote that much, I will only be talking about PowerPoint vs Google Slides.

PowerPoint's Advantages:

  • Now with the advent of 3D objects, it has a clear advantage in terms of making appealing 3D animations without leaving the platform.
  • In terms of simplicity to use, placement of content and objects, the application still has a lot of ease for design. The Office 365 (online) version still lacks the same capabilities, and in Google slides, replicating the design of the PowerPoint app is just not possible.
  • PowerPoint still feels native / easy to use as compared to any online tool, placement of options, menus and features such as shadows, basic picture manipulation still make it a much more powerful platform.
  • Slide Transitions, though it can be replicated in the online versions, but Morph and some slide animations in PowerPoint are just superior in terms of ease of use and the time it takes to create an effect.
  • Edit points: This one is a bit of advanced thing, so basically in PowerPoint you can edit any shape like a vector, that means, you can change the shape its borders etc and make any shape you need to make. The new features (as in 2019 onwards) make it possible to merge shapes and create complex shapes, functionality that rivals conventional design software!

Google Slides Advantages:

  • Its easier to collaborate over, period! Nothing else comes close! No need to worry about saving the updated version and keeping complex version and file nomenclatures!
  • It's good enough for most tasks, like a good enough presentation and design can be made easily and quickly.
  • Another huge advantage, that most people don't really think about is the availability of fonts, icons and images. Though most online editors have that functionality, but the range of fonts with Google Slides, is just amazing!
